Apple sees stronger adoption iOS 18 and iPados 18 across devices

Before iOS 19 unveiled at WWDC25, Apple shared updated information about iOS 18 next week. From June 4, 2025, 88% of all iPhone that has been launched in the last four years.

This number drops slightly to 82% when all active iPhone is considered. More iPhone received iOS 18 than iOS 17 during the same time frame last year.

iOS 18 spreads fast than iOS 17

In June 2024, Apple statistics indicated 86% of the iPhone from the last four years running iOS 17, with a number dropping to 77% for all active iPhones. For comparison, a high percentage of iPhone users, especially those with older models, upgraded to iOS 18 this year.

The main additions of iOS 18, including Apple Intelligence, have probably encouraged rapid adoption. The number is likely to rise slightly more before Apple publicly iOS 19/iOS 26 in September 2025.

With regard to iOS 18 devices already in 2018 iPhone XS is not a small performance. If anything at all, it shows Apple software support strategy and how it updates its older devices with new features for years after release.

For comparison, Android 14 from 2023 is the most widely used version of Google and it’s only about a third of the device. Newer Android 15 is on about a quarter of the device.

iPados 18 adoption also iPados 17

Apple also shares the iPados 18 adoption statistics. It has been running to 81% of devices running in recent years, while iPados 17 runs 12%. When considering all active iPads, this number drops by 10% to 71%. Approximately 14% of all active devices are still running iPados 17, while 15% use even older assembly.

For comparison, in June 2024, 86% of iPads launched in recent years launched iPados 17. This number dropped to 68% when charged for all active iPads.

Faster acceptance of the new iOS and iPados develops several benefits to develop new APIs to create more convincing applications. New assemblies also usually contain new personal data -oriented features.

iOS 19/iOS 26 accepts the Center of Internship Next Wenk when WWDC25 starts on 9 June. Apple will also focus more on assembling Rewerry Beta after shifting smaller, security or corrections for iOS 18.
